This initiative utilizes internet teleconferencing and digital imaging
technology to facilitate interconnected ‘storytime’ at a school or public
library. As such, one teacher/librarian reading a story to a single group of
children can be transmitted to numerous other locations in ‘real time’ or
can be accessed at a later date.
This will encourage reading and the enjoyment of books, at the same time
that students can experience the potential of modern technology to bring
people together in the process of learning, regardless of location and
circumstance. Furthermore, by undertaking this in a library, it acquaints
children with such a venue, and provides a foray into the world of
literature and the wonders of creativity and the imagination.
